I’m not a tailor nor a grandmother, but I appreciate craftsmanship and handmade goods. While there are many places to buy new swaths of fabric, Fujiya on Asagaya’s Pearl Shotengai packs the most punch per square metre. It is a small shop with a prodigious selection. This makes it both fun to explore and easy to navigate. You need only turn your head and take two steps.
In addition to the many bolts of fabric from which to custom cut, Fujiya has three-packs of leftover fabric for 390 yen out front. They also have pre-cut metre-length pieces ranging from 300-600 yen.
They carry seasonal patterns and fabrics, so it’s a good place to start if you’re looking for something like table cloth for Christmas.
